New Project Initiative

Carter & Associates is pleased to announce that they will be working with Mr. Larry Lee of the Center for Rural Alabama to do a thorough evaluation of identified rural schools that are performing at a level that exceeds state expectations (Level 4) in order to determine why their students are achieving at a high level, while other schools operating in similar circumstances are not.

Visits will be made to each school and community to interview principals, teachers, students and community members. Special attention will be given to leadership of the principal, high academic performance expectations, instruction methods, teacher training opportunities and parent and community involvement.

A unique feature of this effort will be using data based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) system of characteristics to determine if there are common characteristics among successful teachers and administrators.

Carter & Associates’ role will consist of interviewing 10 teachers in each school who have taught at this school for three years or longer. Principals will select teachers to be interviewed. Included in this group should be the school’s top five teachers, though their identities will not be revealed to the interviewer. Gerald Carter will be the primary interviewer for this phase of the study.

A series of articles will be prepared by Mr. Larry Lee detailing the information collected about each school and community. With the help of the Alabama Press Association, both weekly and daily newspapers throughout the state will be encouraged to use the articles in an on-going series.

Articles will then be reprinted in a publication for distribution throughout the state to educators, school board members, elected officials, opinion leaders, professional organizations, business leaders and others.

The Integrity Interview System: How to Hire Exceptional People by Consensus

Hiring personnel for an organization is a simple yet complicated procedure.
